What is the Silent Auction?
When you arrive, check in at the front desk to receive your bidding paddle. This will allow you to bid throughout the evening, and to be entered into door prize drawings. When you check in, pick up a map of where items are located. Like items will be grouped together—all gift cards will be in one area, etc. Each area will "close" at different times as indicated on your map. EACH item on these tables will have an auction sheet with it. It will tell you about the item (who donated it, a detailed description, approximate value, etc.); how many people may win the item, if applicable (dinners, for example); the minimum bid; and the minimum incremental bid. Carefully review each item that you bid on, as there are many items that are similar and we may have some last minute additions.
Start the bidding by writing your name and bidding "paddle” number on the sheet for the specific item. Your bidding "paddle" number is assigned when you check in as you come in the front door of Heritage. EVERYONE NEEDS A PADDLE NUMBER TO BID, so be sure and see John Sandman before you place any bids. Keep an eye on the bidding as the evening proceeds. Others will try to outbid you, so you may have to bid multiple times to keep in the running! As the evening goes on, the bidding will get pretty hectic. A warning bell will be rung and the tables ready to close will be announced at least two times before a table closes so listen for that bell!
Items in the catalog marked as “Live” are designated for the Live Auction. “Silent” indicates items available in the Silent Auction. Items may move from “Silent” to “Live” prior to the date of the auction.
All items must be paid for on Saturday, April 10, 2010, unless a proxy bidding sheet has been submitted prior to the auction. Items bought through proxy bids must be paid for by Saturday, April 17, 2010. CASH and CHECKS are the only forms of payment that we are able to accept so please plan accordingly.
Remember to have fun and bid often! |

General Rules Governing the Auction: · All sales are final. No exchanges/refunds are permitted. Everything sold "as is". Please read offering sheets carefully (e.g. some have associated dates) and ask if you have a question. · Incremental bids (amount specified on each auction sheet) must be met for bid to be valid. · By his or her purchase(s), buyer waives any claims of liability against either Heritage Universalist Unitarian Church or donor(s) that may result from use of property or services sold. · All auctioned goods or services must be used WITHIN ONE YEAR (before April 9, 2011) or they will be forfeited. · Unless specified, dates and times are to be arranged at mutual convenience of donor and buyer. · Although we ask the seller to contact the buyer, it is the buyer’s responsibility to contact the seller to collect the goods or services. · The Auction Committee may withdraw any item that does not receive a sufficient minimum bid and/or present the item at the live auction to raise the bid. · In the event of a dispute, the Auction Committee will have sole and final discretion to determine the winning bidder. |
