Auction Committee

           Chair: Karen Hager

The Auction Committee meets annually for a period of 4-6 months to plan and execute the annual church Auction.  The church Auction is Heritage’s largest fundraiser, so planning is essential for success.  Within the task force, groups will be created to focus on a certain aspect of the Auction, and volunteers are able to choose to serve on a specific function or work on the Auction as a whole.  Committee members will be responsible for securing item donations to be auctioned, decorations, food, music, marketing, and all others tasks needed to make the Auction a fun evening for attendees, while making money for Heritage.

The next auction will be held Saturday, October 25.  If you are interested in volunteering to serve on the committee, please contact Karen Hager.

DRE Consultation Committee

           Chair: Karen Rush

The DRE Consultation Committee serves in an advisory and support capacity to the Director of Religious Education (DRE). As a vehicle for communication, committee members accept open feedback about the religious education program for children. Although the committee does not have decision-making or enforcement capabilities, we may disclose recommendations to the Board of Trustees, other committees, or individuals for further action.

Master Facility Planning Task Force

           Chair: Bob Rush

The Master Facility Plan Task Force was formed to fulfill the following goal from the HUUC 2008-2012 Strategic Plan: Nurture community for our personal growth by providing a functional and appealing space.

Our mission is to plan for the long-term future needs of our church facilities.  As our congregation’s membership continues to expand, we must plan to grow and change along with its evolving need.  Our plan is to first solicit input from Heritage committees, groups, staff, and members to gain a clear understanding of our future needs, and collect ideas for how to satisfy those needs. We will also research resources available to help us with facility planning. Our target is to present an initial plan to the Board by the end of 2007.

We meet as needed, usually once a month.

Planned Giving Task Force

           Chair: Barbara Rohrer

The planned giving task force is charged with the responsibility of developing a planned giving program for Heritage Church. It updates the Board and the congregation on its progress as it completes different components of this new initiative. To date, the task force has developed an endowment policy, which the Board adopted in September 2007. Members of the task force have expertise or direct experience with planned giving.

Sabbatical Team

Chair: Cindy Berryman-Fink (until November 30); John Simpson (December 1—March 8)

The Sabbatical Team is involved in planning for the time period of October 1, 2008 to March 4, 2009, when Rev. Bill will be on sabbatical. Prior to the sabbatical, the team’s function is to inform the congregation, listen to and address congregational concerns, answer questions, and assist in preparation for the sabbatical.  During the sabbatical, the team will address sabbatical-related concerns, make appropriate referrals, and help arrange any emergency ministerial needs that may arise.

The sabbatical can be a time of spiritual growth for all involved. To assist in this, the team has provided information on the sabbatical at the annual meeting, prepared and distributed a sabbatical brochure, and met with Board members, staff, and committee/task force chairs. Members of the team will maintain contact with committees and task forces throughout the sabbatical.

See more information on the minister’s upcoming sabbatical.

Volunteer Strategy Task Force

           Chair: Connie Booth

The Volunteer Strategy Task Force is responsible for analyzing the volunteer needs of committees and staffs and creating a process for meeting volunteer needs.  Task force members are currently involved in an analysis of volunteer needs and expect to make a recommendation on process by fall of 2008.
